Thailand, in a bid to boost tourism to nearly USD 100 billion next year, is likely to ease visa rules for travellers from India and China. The country is also planning to allow longer stays for visitors from all nations. Thailand, at present, is one of the top tourist destinations in the world.

If reports are to go by, currently, China faces a costly and often tedious visa application process. Not to forget, China is also one of the largest groups of visitors. In India’s case, at present, Indian travellers have to pay USD 57 for a 15-day visa on arrival.

He has also expressed his interest in increasing the stay limits for international travellers, with caps of 15 days or 30 days.

However, Thaneth Tantipiriyakij, president of the Phuket Tourism Association, has expressed that, looking at how visa fee exemptions are working wonders for tourism, it would be more beneficial to scrape the visa application fee instead of extending visa exemptions to travellers from India and China.
