⏳⏲️The Lincoln City Kite Festival started way back in the late 1970s. It began as a small gathering of local kite lovers and has grown into one of the biggest kite festivals in the USA! 😲 😳Now, people from all over the world come to see the amazing kites and enjoy the fun activities. 🎈🎉

📅 When and 📍Where?

The festival happens twice a year: once in June and again in October. It takes place at the **D River State Recreation Site** in Lincoln City, which has one of the shortest rivers in the world! 🌊 The beach here is perfect for flying kites and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

Amazing Kite Displays

Get ready to see some of the coolest kites ever! From huge dragons 🐉 to colorful sea creatures 🐠🐋🐳, the sky will be full of awesome shapes and colors. Professional kite flyers from all over show off their skills with cool tricks and routines set to music. 🎶

Competitions and Demos

🎏🎪There are lots of exciting competitions, like sport kite flying where flyers do fancy tricks with their kites. 🪢🪁There’s also the rokkaku battle, a Japanese kite fight where competitors try to cut each other’s kite strings. 🏆

Workshops and Activities

🤔🙋‍♂️Want to make your own kite? ✂️Join one of the kite-making workshops! 🪁 You’ll learn how to build and design your kite and then fly it on the beach. There are also fun sessions where you can learn about the science and history of kites. 😳

Family Fun

🎪🎉This festival is super family-friendly! 👶Kids can enjoy face painting, scavenger hunts, and a fun parade just for them. And don’t forget to bring your own kite to join in the fun! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

👍Tips for a Great Time

✅Arrive Early, Parking can get busy, and very difficult to find a good spot nearby!

✅🪁 You can park at the Lincoln City Community Center or at the top level of the Outlets parking garage. Best part? 🚗💨 Parking is free!

✅Plus, free shuttles are running all day from the parking to the festival ground, from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. 🚌🎈

✅Bring hats, sunglasses,😎 sunscreen, and of course a cooler full of food for a family picnic day! 🧺

✅The weather can change quickly on the Oregon coast, so wear layers to stay comfy. 🧥
