SriLankan airline FitsAir is currently in the process of launching scheduled flight services to and from Dhaka effective October 2023.

The airline has already applied to the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh and the latter has agreed in principle to allow them flight slots, as per industry sources.

FitsAir initially plans to operate thrice weekly flights to and from Dhaka.

Formerly known as ExpoAir, FitsAir was founded in 1997. The airline has two hubs—Bandaranaike International Airport and Ratmanala Airport—while having its headquarters in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

FitsAir operates scheduled passenger services within Sri Lanka as well as international passenger and cargo flights to several cities in the Middle EastAsia and Africa, and also operates charter flights to India.

As part of its future plans, the airline is in efforts to launch flights to Dhaka, Bangkok, Jakarta, Jeddah, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore.

The airline’s fleet comprises a total of eight aircraft currently: three Airbus A320-200s, one ATR 72-200, one Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, two Cessna 152s, and one Cessna 150.

Additionally, the airline has orders in place for one Airbus A330-200P2F, and four Bombardier Dash 8-Q400s.

FitsAir, then ExpoAir, was the first airline in Sri Lanka to be certified under the International Civil Aviation Organisation annex requirements, as well as being the first domestic airline to be certified by the Department of Civil Aviation to commence flights to Jaffna.
