Beijing Daxing International Airport

Daxing Airport has become a true jewel of modern aviation in China. Valued at approximately $11.5 billion, it stands as the most expensive project in the history of Chinese civil aviation.

The main terminal is astonishing in its scale, covering nearly 1 million square meters. Additionally, the terminal’s roof is recognized as the largest steel roof in the world, equivalent in size to 25 football fields.

Located 46 kilometers from Beijing, the airport can handle up to 620,000 flights per year. This capacity allows it to serve up to 72 million passengers and transport around 2 million tons of cargo.

Istanbul Mega Airport

Istanbul’s new airport is a grand project set to surpass Manhattan in size upon its completion in 2027. Designed by the renowned London firm Grimshaw in collaboration with Haptic and Nordic, the airport’s architecture features unique elements inspired by Istanbul’s history and culture.

One of the standout features is the control tower, designed in the shape of a tulip, a national symbol of Turkiye. Additionally, the main transit hall is designed to resemble the Bosphorus Strait, adding a local touch.

Before its official opening, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that the airport would become the largest in the world, capable of serving up to 150 million passengers annually, with potential expansion to 200 million.

The airport will offer over 350 destinations and includes facilities such as a main terminal with a capacity of 90 million passengers, a parking area with 12,000 spaces, and 5 runways.

The most famous part of the airport is the Jewel Changi Terminal, renowned for its green design and the world’s highest indoor waterfall. Water cascades from the top of the steel dome, creating a breathtaking spectacle for travelers.

On the upper level, the Canopy Park spans 13,000 square meters and features gardens, walkways, playgrounds, and animal topiaries. It also houses over 280 shops, restaurants, and even a hotel, ensuring convenience for travelers.

O’Hare International Airport in Chicago is undergoing a significant expansion with an $8.5 billion project. The design contract was awarded to Gang Studio, beating out renowned architects like Santiago Calatrava and Norman Foster.

The new terminal features a modern design with a distinctive grid-like facade, giving the building a unique appearance. Inside, a vast atrium is filled with plants and adorned with natural wood details, creating a calm and inviting atmosphere for travelers.
